All garments are developed from existing clothing sourced locally from charity shops in Finland.

We primarily work with garments that are no longer suitable for resale due to wear, damage, alterations, or limited commercial value. Materials are selected for their fibre content, construction, and remaining durability rather than their appearance.

Whenever possible, we also reuse existing components such as buttons, zippers, ribbons, and trims. If reusing these elements would compromise the garment's function or design, new components may be used where necessary.

We work exclusively with existing garments. Every piece begins with clothing that has already had a previous life.

Each garment is made individually and sold as photographed.

The same design approach, construction method, or idea may be developed again using different garments, but no two pieces are identical because the starting materials vary.

Where possible, existing details and traces of wear are retained if they do not affect the garment's function or durability.

Each garment is designed, developed, constructed, and finished in our studio.

Production happens one piece at a time rather than in batches.

The price reflects design development, skilled labour, and individual production, one piece at a time.

The value doesn't come from the age of the material, but from the work required to transform it — design development, experimentation, fittings, and careful execution.

Each piece is unique or part of a very small series. Once a specific material is no longer available, the garment cannot be reproduced in the same way.

Availability is defined by material, not demand.

Orders are dispatched within 1–5 business days.

Delivery times vary depending on the destination and shipping service. Once your order has been shipped, you will receive a confirmation email with tracking information where available.

Yes.

You may return your order within 14 days of receiving it. The garment must be returned in its original condition, unworn except for fitting.

The customer is responsible for all return shipping costs.

A €20 return handling fee will be deducted from the refund to cover inspection, processing, and restocking.

For returns shipped from outside the EU, the customer is also responsible for any customs duties, import taxes, brokerage fees, or other charges incurred during the return process. Any such costs charged to Hoshei may be deducted from the refund.

The original shipping cost is non-refundable unless otherwise required by applicable consumer protection laws.

Once sold, the garment becomes part of the archive.

The same piece will not be reproduced, although the underlying design approach may continue in future work.

As every garment is made individually, direct exchanges are not possible. Where suitable, we are happy to discuss available alternatives or a commission based on similar design principles.

Care instructions are provided with every garment. With proper care and occasional repair, the garment is intended to be worn for many years.

Most garments benefit from air, rest, and local cleaning rather than repeated laundering.

Yes. If a garment isn't available in your size, we may be able to develop a similar piece from suitable source materials — following the same design approach, though the result won't be identical to the original.

Alongside completed garments, we occasionally accept custom commissions.

Each commission is developed from existing garments selected for the project, and the design evolves in response to the available materials. Rather than reproducing an existing piece exactly, we work within the same design principles while allowing the material to shape the final outcome.
